Millenicom Prepaid Broadband

I found that the service from Millenicom's prepaid service is excellent. They offer a pay as you go service for 3G mobile broadband with the UM175, which I believe is a Verizon device.

They also offer a 3G Celular Router that allows homeowners to create a secure WiFi hotspot in their homes for the whole family to share this signal.

Well Pleased

I live in a rural area and it works well. I use it when I travel and have no problems. I pefer it over the free hotel wi-fi, which I have had problems with.

Millenicom is Slingshot
by: PrepaidWirelessGuy

I did some research on this. It looks as though Millenicom prepaid broadband is actually a Slingshot service. Here's a link to their site:
www.millenicom.com/mobilebroadband/slingshot.htm

Unfortunately, at the time of writing this, Slingshot services are no longer available. Their services with Sprint (Slingshot uses the Sprint 3G network) have been shot off due to some kind of violation. Slingshot is currently in litigation with them.

The UM175 modem does appear to be a Verizon modem, however, it's my understanding that Slingshot operates only on the Sprint network. On the Millenicom website they talk about a U727 modem, which is a Sprint modem. If anyone knows anything on this topic, please feel free to let us know!

I'd really like to see Slingshot services come back, for additional competition is always good for the market. Virgin Mobile recently launched its new Broadband2Go offer, which was nice to see.
