China 3G wireless broadband is available since May 2009 by: china3gbroadband
Since May 2009, China has launched its own 3G broadband. There are three 3G network providers respectively China Unicom, China Telecom, China Mobile. Only China Unicom adopts WCDMA HSPA 3G technology as is most popular and adopted by most countires. If you have unlocked USB supporting WCDMA 3G network, just need to buy a 3G SIM data card from China Unicom, and then you can enjoy local 3G wireless internet. Prepaid Broadband in China by: PrepaidWirelessGuy
In researching this I learned that Motorola has successfully tested LTE (Long Term Evolution - 4G) mobile broadband in China. However, I haven't been able to find any active providers.
That's not to say that they're not out there. I found one site that looked promising, however, when reviewing the site (which took a long time to load!), there wasn't any indication of an actual mobile broadband service.
I have also read a number of articles relating to the development of China's 3G market, as well as their WiMAX (4G) market development, which occurred in 2008.
I even found reference to China Unicom offering mobile broadband, however, I haven't been able to find any details on their offering(s)...very frustrating! There are even references to a May 2009 deployment in partnership with Alcatel-Lucent. China Telecom is also said to be rolling out mobile broadband, however, it looks like that won't be available until 2010.
I find it hard to believe that it's not available; it must be out there! I will continue to research, and update this thread when/if I find something. Even if it's not available (or widely available) now, I expect that it's only a matter of time before prepaid mobile broadband is available in China!
If anyone has any information, or better yet, first hand experience, definitely please share your experience with us.
