Prepaid WiMAX Plans
Clear is currently the only
major provider of prepaid WiMAX plans. The table below should
help to give you an idea of your available options. As prices
change and new plans come out, I update the table very quickly.
However, please be sure to check out their website to confirm
the latest and greatest deals. Also, if you find a prepaid
WiMAX provider or plan that isn't listed here, please feel free to contact
me!
When considering your
prepaid wireless Internet options, you'll also want to consider prepaid
cellular broadband in addition to WiMAX. Or learn
more about prepaid WiMAX and 4G.

Note: You
can also purchase a Day Pass, which gives you 24 hour
access for $10. Not a bad option if you already have
a WiMAX modem, but only need access for a day or a few days with long
periods of time in between use.
The following
equipment is available for purchase (for prepaid plans) or lease (for
postpaid plans). Depending on your needs, you'll need one of
the first three pieces of hardware for use with one of the prepaid
WiMAX plans. A USB modem is the most likely choice for most
people.
 | USB Modem - Works
with any PC or laptop with a USB port. | | | Desktop Modem - For
people looking for service in a home or office (i.e. not for mobile
use). | | Integrated Laptop
- You
can get a laptop with integrated WiMAX that doesn't require an external
modem. But beware, you'll only be able to use it with the one
computer (i.e. can't be transfered between computers). | | Voice Adapter - For
an extra fee ($25/month), you can plug in a voice adapter, and use any
home phone to dial over the Internet. |
